Shreyas Bulusu

Shreyas Bulusu was raised and educated from Kindergarten onwards in Washington State, and led a life typical of his other high-achieving friends. Unfortunately, no matter how much Shreyas seemed to be “just another American kid”, there was an important consideration…Shreyas was from India and emigrated on an H4 visa to the United States when very young. After some experiences with the American healthcare system, Shreyas realized that he wanted to be a physician and began looking at BS/MD and BS/DO programs. However, he soon realized that his H4 visa status significantly limited the number of such programs that he could apply to. To maximize his chances of earning acceptances into a combined medical program, Shreyas turned to Dr. Kyle Dobiszewski at Archimedes Advising, LLC. While we were clear with Shreyas that he was facing an uphill battle, we enthusiastically dove in to assisting Shreyas achieve his dream. Through our unique Biographical Sketch process, we learned Shreyas’ unique story so that we could help him tell it to the admissions committees. We then walked Shreyas through the application process to the handful of BS/MD and BS/DO programs that would consider him as an H4 visa holder. Ultimately, Shreyas was accepted to Marian University’s Saint Luke Pre-Medicine Scholarship as a Direct Admit Osteopathic Scholar, which provided a full undergraduate scholarship and direct admission to the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Now Shreyas can say for sure that he will eventually be a practicing physician in the United States, despite his H4 visa status!
